I haven’t visited Wellington for 7 years. I remember every time I went there I only stayed one night.
In October, I had a business trip to the capital of New Zealand. This time, I stayed two nights in the CBD area.
Wellington is not a big city compared to Auckland. It’s more European looking in my opinion.
All the government departments, including the parliament are located in the city, as well as foreign embassies.
My previous trip to Wellington was sigh-seeing at the waterfront area. This time, I went for a cable car ride.
In my opinion, Wellington is like a smaller version of San Francisco without the bridges. They are both hilly coastal cities, both have cable cars, both have Victorian bungalows everywhere.
The Cable car ride was actually quite short - 5 minutes. The tunnels are very cool - you can see another San Francisco signature here: rainbow LED lights.
The stations one both sides are kind of small - it reminds me of the cable car I took in Hong Kong.
The Botanical Garden was nice to visit. I must say this path was quite steep somewhere, a great work out though. It’s not as big as Auckland’s botanical garden at all. The duck pond was very small. The open air music conservertory also reminds me the one in the Goldenn Gate Park with a banner saying Lift Every Voice which I thought was very inspiring.
Kia oraaaa @OliverKIWI and I can see you enjoyed windy Wellington! Too bad I was in Japan by the time you came by and visit
Cable car is indeed one of the highlights in the city and many visitors try to ride it even though it’s a very short one. I take cable car frequently as my office is in Kelburn, Oliver. It’s very handy if you need to go to the CBD area. Did you try the cafe near the cable car station in Kelburn? I love that place …
Royal Botanic Garden is also a beautiful place to visit. Never get bored no matter how many time I visited this place. When weather permits, I walk to RBG from the office, Oliver.
Here are some photos taken in Royal Botanic Garden, including the Rose Garden.
I acturally went to the Rose Garden a few years ago for a wedding. It was a day trip so I only had a few hours at the garden. It was kind of rushed. I came with another guy who was a videographer. I like the face the face the RBG is hilly which means you can have maximum work out if you run here. There are big trees which make perfect shelter and shades from sun burn during the summer time. It’s basially an oxygen bar here LOL.
What’s your plan for Christmas? Take care and cya!
