we want a clarification on the mechanism of accepting and rejecting requests.

For about 12 years now, I’ve been trying to understand the mechanism of how Google Maps works and accepts our suggestions, whether it’s about roads or locations, etc.
Yet, I still don’t get it until this day (if we skip Google Map Maker), so ca you explain this please?
Some of the suggestions I send are 100% accurate, and I live next to, there are no levels of trust among editors, nor even grades for acceptance and rejection.
For example, adding a missing street, but the response is always rejection.
However, when adding something, I don’t give it much importance, as it’s not as significant as the missing (or incorrect) road, whether it’s the direction or other details, it always been accepted.
What are the criteria and standards for acceptance and rejection?
Moreover, some roads on Google Maps are very old and have been reported multiple times without any action taken, while new streets are launched but not added, and reporting doesn’t work either! It requires intervention from the community of that country, as thousands of reports have been submitted, and considering it’s Google, imagine how many will be rejected, accepted, or reported again.
It might take years to fix these errors, and there’s no solution other than allowing the community to fix them.
I have extensive experience in mapping and have fixed enough across different maps (without mentioning names), but I’ve never seen such persistence and style of error correction as in Google.
This approach is too broad and might face any editor, thus Google Maps will remain very poor in our communities as it is if we don’t do something about it.

Lastly, here’s an example of what I reported, which is as clear as day, yet the response is a clear rejection!

a clear photo

and here is what google says

here is another example:

YouTube Video
This R/A has been converted to I/C from years ago… and i do the correction from my phone (imagine how hard) and google not
approve it

What do you want us to do and how do you
want us to help you? You’re not helping us in this matter!

  • There are no trusted individuals whose edits are accepted based on their expertise over the years!
  • Valid suggestions are not consistently accepted, and I don’t exactly know the reasons (it’s exhausting to repeatedly report the same error) because there are many other errors that catch your attention.
  • We don’t have access rights to Road Mapper

What should we do then?

Thanks!

Hi @NO1xMOHAMED you’re asking about the Secret Sauce of Maps. That will not be revealed although various Googlers hint at it from time to time. Knowing the secret sauce would let people game the system.

Maps uses a whole lot of signals about your contributions and your own history to try and ascertain if your contributions are real or fake. It does not always get it right.

A lot of Maps functionality is not available in some regions or countries due to political restrictions either from US government or from the country itself and the app on the phone may not know that and submits them anyway only to be silently rejected behind the scenes.

In what country are you trying to edit?

Regarding the signals the system uses regarding my record, I don’t think it’s successful, even though it’s determined by the machine, not humans, which is frankly surprising.

I didn’t understand the meaning of the restrictions you mentioned because it’s about adding the street, which is a feature available to me, not activating the feature in the first place!

Qatar.

covered with Google Street View all

All features are available i guess
