The most interesting thing I have done as a Local Guide : Helping Business Start-ups, Women Entrepreneurs and Specially Challenged Students .
Before I share my experience as a Local Guide from past few years, I wish to Quote a part of letter of Swami Vivekānanda ( Indian Monk ) to King of Mysore , India . It goes like this “ **THIS LIFE IS SHORT ,**VANITIES OF THE WORLD ARE TRANSIENT, BUT THEY ALONE LIVE WHO LIVE FOR OTHERS, REST ARE MORE DEAD THAN ALIVE “
For me Being a Local Guide is an Opportunity to Serve people ,new Business Start-ups ,Road side Peasants, Specially Challenged, Visually Challenged Students and Women Entrepreneurs around me directly or indirectly.
This program is giving me a chance to Serve God in form of People. I am interested in adding New places, Editing Existing one , Rating and Reviewing in Google Maps.
I wish to share few interesting things which I have done as a Local Guide
ADDING NEW PALCES TO GOOGLE MAPS :
Jayanti’s Advocate and Notary Office : I met a Women Entrepreneur cum Advocate and Notary in Karwar, India who was finding it difficult to compete with other Men Advocates who had agents in Bank, courts, everywhere to help them with clients .She was only one LADY NOTARY in the City .To attract Clients towards her Business was a very difficult one and she suffered from Men Dominated Society. I added her business to Google Maps which increased customers for her business. It went on from 10 customers a month to nearly 100 every month . It has been seen by more than 15,000 people in just 3 months .
Bharat Cycle Traders: This is a new Business Start up in Mysore city by Sri Mohammed Rasheed, Ex Bicycle Repairer. This Bicycle Shop was started in January 2018 by estimated investment of 25 Lakh Rupees .I met the owner when I had went for my cycle repair. Owner suffered from very less number of Customers for his new startup and his business was not popularised due to lack of advertising. Rasheed being a person from Middle Class background had already suffered a huge loss and found it difficult to bring investments to expand new Business and to Advertise in papers. He was Bankrupted and sold his entire Property to safeguard his business. I met him when I had went to repair my bicycle .I added this business to Google maps which was just approved in minutes. Things changed after adding his business to google maps. This place has been seen by more than 45,000 people . He says that he sells 2 Bicycles per Average per Day . His life completely changed after his business was added to Google maps from 5 bicycles a week to 2 bicycles per day on average.
FINDING CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS AROUND ME AND TEACHING THEM HOW TO BOOK A CAB USING GOOGLE MAPS .
Sahana Charitable Trust for Disabled : This charitable trust is free Stay home for Blind Students of about 20 students . I thought them how to book a Cab using Google maps to their School Address . This is one of best experience I have earned being a local guide. I used Screen Reader Access of Android and taught them to book a cab by saving their School address as their work address .
The Happiness and Joy which I get by Helping others and by seeing our society and world growing cannot be compared to any other joy in this entire world . Google Maps and Local Guide Program has given me an opportunity to serve people like Squirrel, this happiness and joy can’t be obtained from any other object in this world.
I positively hope to connect in Live 2020 , California which will be my First International Journey , flight journey and my dream Program to learn more, discover and to connect with my new family.
