We escaped school to explore this amazing place we found on Google maps

How we look like Michael Scofield and his crew from Prison break… hehe. It was quite difficult convincing the pack to do this, I had to go from promising it would be fun, it would be one of the most amazing days of their lives, we won’t get caught and even if we did there won’t be any punishment whatsoever. We were recruits at one of the best insurance firms in Lagos, Nigeria and after going through hectic stages of interviews proceeded to a 3 weeks training on basics of programming, basics of excel, Data Science, Actuarial jargons, finance and about the company its history, merging, market capital and other basics we needed to learn.

You would probably understand how focused, serious and tired everyone was after the 2nd week of being thoroughly drilled. I just knew we needed a break, not really a break just a chill from the whole serious life we had just started. Yeah, I know we should start getting used to it because the corporate world had no chills whatsoever…lol. I made some checks on places to have fun and bond, we needed somewhere to have fun and I found this place, The Omu Resort @ No 1 Omu Resort Drive, Off Asiwaju Bola Tinubu Way, Bojide, Ibeju Lekki, Lagos.

I gathered more information about the resort from reviews, Q& A on Google Maps, I mean how else did I continue to be Top 1% local guide if I didn’t know how to utilize my google maps effectively. And then we set out, this time based on group agreement and the fear of losing the jobs we only just start, we managed to convince the Human resource team and we didn’t have to break out as I initially planned… yippee!. It was about a 2-hours drive from our school lodge. We arrived, paid entry fee and the fun started.

A little about the place I told my colleagues was that Omu resort has the first museum in Africa, the first purpose-built race track in Nigeria with a different array of karts for all ages, it’s also an amusement park, you could ride a horse, do quad biking, archery, darts and there is a zoo with about 40 animals from around Africa. The resort also had an event hall for weddings, parties, awards, retreats and any other functions. There is a large area in front for parking, good to set a tent too should your party be large, I guess that sounds exciting to you too.

It was beyond their expectation and this mattered a lot to me because everyone regards me as a mini social prefect that should know places and lead them rightly, although I had held few social positions in different groups so it was nice seeing all that played out.

We went from skating, go-karting, Paintball, we entered the scary pirate ship.

Later to the museum, the rides, especially the one that went 360, I couldn’t believe I was upside down, I was so scared, but it was fun. We later went to the zoo, at the zoo we went to the lion’s cage, watched as the keeper dropped a goat in Lion’s cage and the lion raced toward the live goat, grabbed it by the neck thereby strangling the poor animal and dragged it to a corner, the lion is a proud animal and didn’t eat while we were watching.

It was a fun day, we got back to our lodge all tired and guess what, we had a test the next morning. Work continued.

Everybody needs a chill-out now and then. Great that you managed to push it for the whole group. And Google Maps are a real help.

Loved the pics - so emotional and joyful.
