The day I understood that I could review places on Google Maps and posts cool pictures, I was stunned. I immediately reviewed my cousins shop I northern Sweden. It got five stars and a one-line review. “Super shop, super personnel”. After that my posts took a dip for some time. I started to realize that I disliked all the one-line reviews about places, it didn’t give me anything. After some time I went to a place, a local bakery that I had visited for over thirty years. The new management weren’t according to me as good as the former owners, so I weren’t expecting anything out of the ordinary. When I stepped in I immediately got a strange feeling something was different, Instead of the old grouchy old man at the counter a young girl with a nose ring and tattoos greeted me. I asked if they had changed owners again, she smiled and replied. – Nope, dad’s in the bakery now a days. I’m helping him out, well, I’m “sort of the new manager” she said and laughed. I was stunned. I then realized that they were struggling to get by and that her dad was old and tired and that they probably had a lot of difficulties along the way. Despite that, they never even thought of letting their dream fade away. We spoke for a while and laughed some more. And then she said. - Hey! You like our horseshoe pastry! I remember that! I sat down with my coffee and my horseshoe pastry and felt numb. I realized I stepped in with a negative preconception to have my latte, do my review and get my points. But just by talking to her, a whole new picture emerged, and she wanted me to listen. They even let me take their picture.
I was so thankful that they shared their dream with me, so I immediately sat down and wrote a long review. After that day I have nearly never written a review shorter than 200 letters. It’s hard to catch a dream within that space. Imagine then what it is with a one-liner and a star or two. And It´s worth it, they are worth it. We all are. We must always try to catch the dream someone have instead of risk posting a nightmare. This is WHY I do this,
To catch someone’s dream and then share it, what can be bigger?
