I maintain a map called the Local Guides World Wide Water Quality Map which is a bit of a mouthful. Once a year I post a call for updates here on Connect and it is time. There are 117 places on the Map showing where its safe to drink water, where you need to boil it and where you wouldn’t even put your big toe in it.
I would love for more people to contribute. You can see the live Map at in MyMaps LGWWWQM and you can fill in the form to submit or update your place. Everyone is eligible, cities, towns, villages, anything that can be pinpointed on the Map.
Thanks for this nice initiative @PaulPavlinovich I have updated the water status of my village and have submitted the form. I hope it will reach you accordingly. Stay safe.
Thanks for the elaboration @Ewaade_3A I understood about “what”, but I was curious about how - how do I do it, where to add, safe water to drink from the well or river? That’s what I need to figure out. I need a thinking and concentration.
Highly recommend that Guides globally participate in this effort to document water conditions globally. Really glad to see this is still an ongoing effort, @PaulPavlinovich .
I originally thought it might be a once off @SP31 but it grew beyond my ambitions. One day I’ll get really excited and learn firebase so I can automate it - as it is I have a Google Sheet that does most of the work creating everything needed to edit the Map directly from the form data.
@FalguniP please do. I will likely do the next update in a couple of weeks once a bunch of people have responded (there are already a few sitting there waiting for me).
Hi @PaulPavlinovich !
I proceeded to update the map by inserting the links of the last places where I have been and where I was able to taste the water quality in person!
@PaulPavlinovich I was so surprised and excited to see the topic pop-up. I am glad you are updating it and do you know what? You just inspired me !!! I have been thinking of what to do with My Maps!!!
