There is no doubt that during the rule of Kekatiya rulers Ganpati Deva, Rudra Amma etc, the capital Warangal established its identity in South India by prosperity and development in the field of architecture, art and commerce. Described by Italian tourist Marco Polo in his travelogue.

The Warangal Fort has almost turned into ruins, but the remains still show the glory of the Kingdom of Kekatiya. There are four very beautiful grand toran gates that symbolize the pride of the Kakatiya kingdom, which were located around the Swayambhu Shiv temple which were the integral part associated with the Shiv’s temple. These Gates are spectacular and are also the state symbols of the state of Telangana.

Experienced and expert craftsmen have presented beautiful engraving of lotus springers, flower garlands, birds and their feathered tails etc on twin Pillared iconic gates with huge horizontal elaborately decorated beams and ends are supported by artistic brackets. Engraving of imaginary animals and ornamented brackets which are extremely attractive elements and exemplify the excellent engineering of the time also. These four decorative gates are famous as Warangal Gates and Kekatiya Kala Tornam. They have been recommended for inclusion in the World Heritage. There is no description of any deity at these gates and all the four artistic gates are almost identical.
