Once upon a time in the far 1996 I made my first trip to Egypt. I was a little boy and that trip impressed me so much that I wanted everyone I know to tell about this interesting place! So I made a lot of photos on my not yet digital camera and decided to print them as soon as I get home and to show to my friends and relatives. There were no social networks that time so I made several printed photo albums, showed them and told stories about my adventure. And I was so happy to see interested faces and to hear from grateful people that my stories and photos opened a new place for them.
From that time I started to collect photos and information about the places I visit because I know that very little percent of people in my country can afford traveling and could see those wonderful places as I am lucky to see. So I wanted to share my experience as much as possible. Several years ago while using Google Maps while traveling for my own purposes I found out that I can also share my photos and comments here. So I became a Local Guide. For me it was a great event because at last I have found a place and community where my information is popular and available for a lot of people all over the world.
If you ask WHY is it so important for me I could say that when I share something, it seems that I open a new door for a somebody for whom it was closed before… From my posts people can find out the info they need, sometime to make a decision to visit this place or not or just to know something new about places in our world where they have not been, but now they can read about it and see my photos.
That’s a great pleasure for me to make my own contribution into something global, to be useful for other people and feel myself a part of something really great and important for the people all over the world. My attitude to my work on Google maps is very responsible, I always share only real and approved information. Because while using Google maps I used to rely on the others people feedback and I know how it is important to give an actual and true information here in order not to confuse somebody who tries to find something on Google maps!
Hope, I will have a lot of trips in the future so that I could share more and more information with Google Maps Community and other users. And will do my best to make it really interesting!
