Walking high with Nature
Lekki Conservation Centre
19 Lekki - Epe Expy, Lekki Penninsula II, Lekki, Nigeria
April 07, 2018 @ 10:00 (WAT)
My maiden hosting of a meet up is at the Lekki Conservation Centre in Lagos State, Nigeria. It was established in 1990 and has grown into one of Africa’s prominent and most-diverse urban Nature Parks due to its high species richness. It is located in the coastal environs covering an approximate land area of 78 hectares and ends up a very close distance to the Atlantic Ocean. Lekki Conservation Centre represents the preservation of the unique biodiversity, scenic, natural, scientific and recreational values of the coastal environs of the south-western Nigeria. The meet up is aimed at bringing Local Guides together to share notable experiences being in the one of the notable monuments/sites in Nigeria; promote environmental education & understanding of the natural world; introduce the local guides programme to many visitors often present at the centre - as many may not be aware despite growing use of Google maps. This meet up will also provide a venue for all Local Guides to commune and deliberate in one location plans for the year, especially the planning of the LG Summit in May 2018 as a seat-in has been provided. The meet up promises to be exciting and memorable; there will be lots to see and do, cameras will be clicking away at the scenic environment as well as new experiences will be formed; Google maps will be populated with pictures of the longest suspended canopy walk, rotunda, bird hide, jungle gym, koi & tilapia pond, tree house, swamp station, food, drinks etc.
