Walking Around Whitemud Park South Trail along Whitemud Creek

This is a popular walking route that is not too hard to do. The trail goes along Whitemud Creek with plenty of beautiful trees all around.

If you are into bird watching, this area of Whitemud park would be great to check out. Personally, I’ve seen two owls in the area. Others have seen plenty of wildlife such as moose and chickadee birds.

On this walk, (Above), the creek was crystal clear and the skies were pretty clear.

Tips

  • There is parking closer to the park if you’re exiting off the Whitemud and heading down Fox Drive going east. Pass the main set of lights by the big Fort Edmonton Park sign, then it’s your first left.
  • Morning and evening times are great times for walking but bring mosquito repellent.
  • There are bathrooms at the Alfred H. Savage Centre, which is within walking distance from the parking lot and trails.
  • There are a few footbridges going over Whitemud Creek which may be an awesome photo opportunity.
  • If you’re looking for an intense stair climbing workout, Grandview outdoor staircase is right by the Alfred H. Savage Centre and walking trails.
