We are very lucky here in New Zealand with COVID19 pretty much eliminated:) Yeehaa!
(well, only 5 new cases found per week). So our life is back to normal now.
During the school holiday, we had a road trip and did some outdoor activities in Waikato. One of the activities is cycling at Waikato River Trail.
We only did a small section of the long trail: from Arapuni to Waipa camp which is about 12km.
We booked the cycling tour with our tour guide. They transported us to the start of the route at Arapuni with 6 mountain bikes.
There is a famous suspension bridge on the Waikato River at Arapuni. According to Wikipedia, The 152-metre (499 ft) suspension bridge in the bush-lined gorge was built in the mid-1920s. The bridge is 40m high. It was quite scary to walk on the bridge for fainted hearts. I did ride a little bit on the bridge. You can see the Arapuni Dam.
The trail was zigzagging along the mighty Waikato River. The river was running quietly. The water was clear. At Little Waipa Reserve, you can see a bunch of black swan from Australia. And of course, some farm animals such as cows.
The trail was at medium level. Not too hard at all. Highly recommended!
Sorry for your loss @OliverKIWI did an amazing job in controlling the covid19 cases and special appreciation goes to Jacinda Ardern for the commendable job on early implementing the lockdown. All the photographs are beautiful, do you have close up photograph of the bridge
I’m just a little bit (ok, a lot) jealous @OliverKIWI thanks for sharing your bike ride. We can still ride but we have to stay local. For me this means I can get to the beach or ride the trail alongside the freeway and that’s about it unless I want to use roads.
I always love to see the nice photos of your post @PaulPavlinovich The quality of your photos is exceptional. Thanks for sharing this nice post. I feel sorry as your phone broke while taking photos.
@fasi6083 Thank you! Jacinda did show calm and leadership this time:) Here are the pix on the bridge! I had to refrain myself from taking pix. The camera was in my bag most of the time. LOL!
I remember clearly on the 8th of March, I took part in Round the Bays Fun Run. There were approx 30,000 Aucklanders showed up that day. I was really concerned if there is a massive community transmission happening…I think VIC should be fine after 6-8 weeks of lockdown. Take care and Cya!
Perhaps we will be @OliverKIWI our numbers were straight line for everyone one infected, there was one more each day. Now we’re going to two for one each day so we’re escalating unfortunately.
Has to be very strict with isolation and let the number die down. If other parts of the country can, VIC can too. Massive testing is a must @PaulPavlinovich
