Wae Rebo: The Mysterious Village in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia

Wae Rebo is a mysterious village in Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. Located at an altitude of 1,200 m above sea level. In this village, there are only 7 main houses or what is referred to as Mbaru Niang.

It is @Radjasitanggang , the location of these villages is in the middle of the jungle. If you want to go there, you’ll have to trek for 4 hours. There no other way, the vehicle can’t get over there.

Besides the location, this village has a magical housewhich has received the highest award in the cultural heritage conservation category from the Asia-Pacific UNESCO in 2012.

Read about this online - sharing the information for all - " Wae Rebo’s main characteristics are their unique houses, which they call Mbaru Niang that are tall and conical in shape and are completely covered in lontar thatch from its rooftop down to the ground. It appears that at one time such kind of houses were quite common to the region. But today, it is only this village that continues to maintain the typical Manggarai traditional house, without which these unique houses would have been completely fazed out."
