The island of Tanna is a fascinating place. It is home of Mt. Yasur an active volcano that can be visited when the conditions are right. I was lucky the day I went that the volcano was erupting but not too much. Tanna is very rural with the majority of the residents only able to afford local construction materials such as thatch. You can see some of the houses in the last Street View 360 in this post. Many rely on fishing for their livelihoods and use small locally made outrigger canoes as the one in the Street View image on the coast below. If you go to Tanna, make sure you bring a tripod to take the volcano and the Milky Way at night as the island is far from any cities and the light pollution on a moonless night is practically non-existent.

Thanks @Ivi_Ge Yes, so lucky. At first I was bummed that we arrived at dusk, only to realize that it was the best time to see the eruptions.
