Visitng Nirvana Nagar Forest Buddhist Temple Vihar during BDLG's 210th Meet up

The 210th Meet up of Bangladesh Local Guides was held on 19-20 May 2023 at Bargee Lake Valley Camping Site in Rangamati District. On the way to the camping site we visited the Nirvana Nagar Forest Buddhist Temple. I am referring to that in the post.

From far away, the raised head of his golden statue can be seen through a small gap in the ridge of the hill. The closer you get to breaking through the vast body of water, the more clear your body structure becomes in the middle of the towering mountain peaks. The hilltop where this Buddha statue is built is called Shilchari. However, the monastery built on this hill is called Nirvana Nagar. This vihar, which consists of 15 acres of land, was built about 11 years ago. There are a few cottages here. The flag flying next to the Buddha on the mountain, seven colors, is the religious flag of the Buddhists. (Source)

After breakfast we went to the Reserve Bazar Ghat. It took us 2 minutes to get to the Ghat from the restaurant. We got in a reserved launch from the ghat. We left at 10:00 in the morning. We reached Nirvana Nagar Forest Buddhist Temple Vihar at 11.00 AM. It takes about 15-30 minutes to reach the summit on foot from the bottom of the hill.

The experience of visiting there is detailed below with pictures and descriptions.

Address : Nirvana Nagar Forest Buddhist Temple Vihar, Barkal, Rangamati

How to go : Take a small trawler or launch going to Barkal or Longdu from Reserve Bazar launch ghat in Rangamati city. Launch every day at 7:30 am. The trawler does not stop at Nirvana Vihar before Shublong waterfall. But if you say, it will be taken down there. On the way back, any trawler or launch will pick up the signal from the foothills of Vihar. Besides, one can hire a launch or trawler.

Kids Friendly : Yes

Wheelchair Accessibility : No

Food Availability: Vihar area has no food other than tea, biscuits. As a result tourists have to bring food with them. And, even though it is a kingdom of water, you have to bring food and water with you on the way to see the mountain Buddha.

Accommodation : There is no accommodation in vihar area.
Google Map Location : https://goo.gl/maps/KatWodozyiyaPjmo9

Final Word : Generally, tourists like to visit all the spots of Rangamati by engine boat. It is very amazing to see Kaptai Lake in the morning. Kaptai Lake is the largest artificial lake in South-Asia. This Lake is our national resource of Bangladesh because electricity is generated from this lake.

Happy tourism!

Looks like a great place to visit indeed @SanjayBDLG . A lot to observe and enjoyâ€Ļ as well as interesting stories about the place itself.

I remember visiting some Buddhist Temples in Indonesia as well as South East Asian countries such as Myanmar, Lao PDR and Viet Nam.
