Visiting the paddy fields in Sekinchan - a rice bowl of Malaysia

In Malaysia, as with many tropical countries in Asia, our staple food is rice. Hence, many countries have our own rice plantations. One of the rice plantation areas here is a small town named Sekinchan (https://goo.gl/maps/WjWawR2bXNeYw6PA8 ). It is about 1.5 hours drive out of Kuala Lumpur, the capitol of Malaysia. Sekinchan is also known as one of the rice bowls of Malaysia.

[Photo above] - In most areas, rice is planted 2 or 3 times a year. I was fortunate that the harvest season is sometime in June. So, when I came here, the paddy plants are almost ripen with stalks of rice, and the fields look almost golden. It’s an amazing sight. I walked around in the paddy fields and admired the beautiful humble plants.

[Photo above] - One of the attractions was to come and see the plantations and also the process of growing and cultivating rice. So, one of the best places to come to is the Paddy Gallery and Museum (https://goo.gl/maps/dznT3o73EyucpdUR7 ).

Sekinchan is a beautiful small town. Worth the visit over the weekend. Come early in the day to escape the heat of the mid day sun.
