I love to walk in the countryside whether it be alone or with a group. I lead walks for local Meetup Groups in the north west of England. These walks give me a chance to get to know people, to view spectacular scenery. They also help with fitness and vitality. Walking in nature is also a great way to destress. I enjoy hikes from easy up to challenging. I have completed the Pennine Way which is 268 miles long and runs from Edale in Derbyshire right the way to Scotland. The picture above is from a recent trip to the Highlands of Scotland. Conditions were challenging and we required Ice Axes and Crampons to successfully traverse the routes. Scotland can be a dangerous place to walk in winter especially if you trying Winter Mountaineering. It is important to use maps and compasses as well as apps to track your route. Before setting off you should consult SAIS the Scottish Avalanche Information Service to see if there is a risk of avalanche in the area. If your are properly prepared for the snow and ice the scenery can be stunning as can be seen in the picture below.
