Whenever you are visiting Nainital before hand you can do these things to make your trip more comfortable and easier. Booking your Hotels having parking in advance online will help you to take your car in the city. Cause when the city gets an overcrowded government limited vehicle and does not allow outsiders vehicles in the city so if you book your Hotels (Have Parking) in advance online then nobody will stop you to enter the city along with your vehicle. Otherwise you have to park your vehicle outside the city at the parking lot and you have to hire a location taxi to enter the city.

How does the government know if your hotel has a parking or not?
A couple of questions more please:

how far is the parking from the center of the city, for example the Mall Street?

Are there taxis or any public transport available from the parking to the city center?

Good morning. It depends. Thank you for this apprise. Nainital City has a main parking which is at the center of the city.
1. It’s approximately under 300 m from the Mall Street it’s Mall Road exact location on playground flats Mallital. Further when city gets overcrowded means in the city have 3 parking one is at Flats, second is a more 150m from flats parking Metropol Parking and third is at Sukhatal Multi Stories Parking distance more 2.5km approximately from Metropol Parking. (One thing more let me clear this when city gets overcrowded means no space for the cars to park. All car parkings full) then this government rule on effect. And they not let anyone enters in the city. Even anyone has bookings if the city parkings full government stop them and if they still wish to visit Nainital they have taxis service from Nainital bypass highway.
2. Yellow number plate vechiles consider as taxis that available near around the parking.
