VISIT TO THE HOLY MOSQUE IN MEDINA - PROPHET MOSQUE

On February 01st, 2020, Me and My wife along with our two kids got the opportunity to visit the second most holiest place for Muslims in the city of Medina, “Masjid Nabawi” also known as the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) Mosque, considered as a holy site for all Muslims around the world. This was built by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It is the second holiest site in Islam, after the Great Mosque in Mecca. This mosque has the capacity of accommodating more than a million pilgrims. The King of Saudi Arabia who is considered as the Custodian of this Holy Mosque have done an excellent job in maintaining this grand mosque. For me personally, visiting this place will always brings me peace and comfort to my soul. The best time to visit this place is during the weekdays and during the winter season, as the place will be less crowded and it is recommended for family travelers to stay at accommodations close to ladies entrance gates (We stayed at a hotel which was close to Gate # 17). Please keep in mind that there are separate entrance gates for ladies and gents and for ladies there are specific timings to visit “Rawdah Riyad ul-Jannah”. The visiting hours for ladies in the morning starts after Fajr Prayers and will remain open for 2 hours and during the evening hours it will remain open from 9 PM till 11:00 PM. Ladies can use gate #25 to access the Riyad ul-Jannah area, whereas for gents they can use Gate #2 to access the Rawdah. Rawdah is considered as one of the gardens of paradise. The Rawdah territory extends from prophet Muhammad’s home to his minbar. Please keep in mind that the “Rawdah” space can only accommodate a few hundred people.

Hello @fasi6083 ,

Thank you for sharing all these details and great photos with us, I really enjoyed learning so much from your post.

I have been to several mosques in Morocco and Turkey, but never got the chance to visit this particular one. I guess that nothing compares the emotion and feelings while visiting the Holy Mosque in Medina, am I right? What were you impressions and the ones of the children?

My kids were excited during their stay in the mosque and were staying with my wife in the ladies section. This mosque has a separate section for ladies for prayers. The prophet mosque is the second most holiest place for Muslims after the grand holy mosque of Makkah. Personally speaking, visits to the religious places (like this mosque) always boast the spiritual bonding in me and it brings me a step closer to God. My kids are still 2 and 3 years old and It is quite difficult for me to capture there sense/understanding towards this kind of visits, the only places were I find my kids enjoying/amused are in the family parks and when they are irritating their mother.
