Something that we always try to do when we travel is look for small, out-of-the-way towns to visit and maybe stay in for a while. Tingha in New South Wales is a classic example. At first glance it may not look promising, but spend a little time there and it will grow on you. We camped at the Tingha Gems Caravan Park, a small and well run park a short distance out of town (and for us and easy, flat bike ride).
Copes Creek, Tingha
It is located beside the Cope Hardinge Creek, which flows into Copes Creek, a nice spot. The surrounding coutry side is not bad as well.

Some of the locals have a ‘unique’ style of building.

But the main attraction for us was the Wing Hing Long and Company museum. Inside it is literally like stepping back a hundred years. Set up as part museum, part old world general store, it is an extremely interesting place to poke around in.

Better still, the owners organise home cooked scone morning teas, served with cream and jam and good crockery. The ladies also have a lot of local stories.

Tingha is small, maybe a little run down, and very quiet… but absolutely magic! Did I mention the scones are great?
