Visit Holland (not Amsterdam)

First post about Holland and not Amsterdam

Because the Netherlands is a great country. The air is cleaner and the nature is lovely to go cycling (if you like that!).

Today I will talk about my home town.

Langeraar, Nieuwkoop (small town also called Ter Aar on Google).

We have a great lake, for swimming and sailing. We have Menno our local snack bar [*edit: Menno is the owner, snack bar is called The Grant]. We have another snack bar called Daarnaast, next to a local bar called Hiernaast.

There is a big church situated in the center with a hairdresser, barber, supermarket, bakery, dentist and a doctor is you require any.

There also is a bike trail going from Langeraar to Ter Aar with loose walking cows which is a great experience.

Also we have a 24/7 egg vending machine which is also super cheap! That is really worth a try.

For a population of 2k people it is a very small town but very enjoyable.

Your home town sounds like a really interesting and enjoyable place to live @GirlFromHolland my town is somewhat larger with about 8,000 people.

I’m fascinated by this egg vending machine, I’ve never heard of one. Could you share a photo some time?

Nice to hear from you @claudiaamanda ! I’ve never been to Groningen. One time to Stadskanaal but that will be very different to the city, I imagine.

Do you have any recommendations for me when I go to Groningen?

@GirlFromHolland just walk around in city centre, and climb up the martini tower

actually one day is enough to explore Groningen, since it’s a small city. you can walk around in city centre or cycling around the city

Fijne dag

When you’re in the neighbourhood anyway, it’s also worth a look to visit Nieuwkoop. Another small nice lakeside town, you can get good food for a decent price at the “'t Vliegend Paard” restaurant, and the area is generally very nice to walk or cycle. If you follow the road along the water eastward to Noorden, you’ll enjoy some nice views across the countryside (and some rather upscale houses) and eventually end up in another pittoresque lakeside village.
