Thanks for sharing your parenting story @RosyKohli. Your children are very lucky to have you as a parent and teacher.
I have always had great respect for teachers. Now, even more so, after trying to teach my kids during the first week we were at home. We are now going on Week 7!
Fortunately, I suggested my kids’ preschool teacher to try Zoom and she started having a daily voluntary 20 minute class with her students starting the end of the first week of staying home.
These assignments have been lifesavers for things to do during the day besides the “mini preschool” we have already set up prior to the pandemic: books to read to them and they “read” to me, blocks to build, pretend play to encourage their imagination, and a mini art studio to foster creativity and the use of their hands.
The school has not asked for their monthly tuition because since the kids are not there the owner doesn’t think it is right to charge. I found this is an exception to rule here.
Every moment of the day here does not look as idyllic as these photos. But for sure, we are living history and hopefully my kids will remember at least something when they older of this historic moment in time.
Thanks for RSVPing! I have 16 Local Guides signed up for this virtual meetup as of April 30th, 4:00 PM PDT.
Unfortunately, I can only invite the first 9 Local Guides who RSVPed who meet my Meetup Logistics criteria:
Must bring your child(ren)’s favorite toy/book & be prepared to share your parenting COVID-19 experiences.
Must private message me a “parenting selfie” (you & your child(ren)’s toy/book) AND your Gmail address before the May 2nd virtual meetup. Your photo will be used as part of the recap meetup attendee photo collage. I need your Gmail to add you to the Google Hangout link. Be sure to have the Google Hangout app installed before the meetup. I will do a test before be sure you are on the Hangout.
At the meetup, you must be in a quiet room and be wearing a headset.
If you cannot make this meetup, please let me know ASAP. I have 4 Local Guides on the Wait List. If I don’t receive your “parenting selfie” and your Gmail address by May 1, 2020, 4:30 PDT(SF Time), I will go to the Wait List and contact the next person on the RSVP list.
Due to popular demand, I will schedule for a future date another VIRTUAL: Parent Talk Social meetup if you are on the Wait List.

Thanks @Sagir for your kind words. We had a full house on Saturday and the virtual meetup lasted over 90 minutes again. Too many interesting parenting stories to tell and toys to share. There was a lot of laughing in between.
Yes! There will be a future VIRTUAL: Parent Talk Social coming soon!
I email out the Google Hangouts link to only the 9 Local Guides who attend my virtual meetup. I do not post the Hangouts link publicly because only 9 Local Guides + me can attend.
I hope you had as much fun as I did last Saturday. I learned a lot from everyone. Listening to each of your current parenting experiences reinforced for me that we are all going through similar parenting issues under these uncertain times.
I want to also thank you for providing me with your photos to share of our meetup.
For all those who were on the Waitlist for this virtual meetup, please let me know what upcoming Saturdays you are available. Again, the 2nd VIRTUAL: Parent Talk Social has to be scheduled on a Saturday at 7 am PDT (San Francisco Time).
