One thing we can all agree on is that this quarantine is changing our habits. I think as local guides, we have a primary role in helping others discovering local businesses and exploring our environment while respecting the government rules.
Virtual tours
You might already know that Google is allowing you to virtually visit museums. I must admit that this feature is really nice and I’ve already visited the Van Goh Museum and the MOMA with my kids.
But did you know that some museum offers a virtual guided tour? Do you know any place that is holding virtual information meetup? Share the one you know right here and helps us discover new activities to do during the quarantine.
As for me, I’ve assisted to a virtual guided tour organized by the AstroLab two days ago.
AstroLab du Parc Mégantic
AstroLab’s goal is to offer information about the sky and astronomy at home. They are an International Dark sky reserve, which offers an exceptional starry night features for scientific research and star observation. During the quarantine, they are holding multiple Facebook live events where you can ask all kinds of questions about astronomy.
I’ve assisted in a live event during night time last Monday. Guillaume (the tour guide) took us for a night of stars, galaxy and nebulas observation while commenting on what we could see.
During the event, we were able to ask our questions and even ask to see specific galaxy/nebula depending on the sky. It was an overall really pleasing experience getting to know more about astronomy.
Share with us the other virtual guided tour you know!
