Village Day Celebration in Belarus #TeamBelarus

On August 23, 2019, our family took part in the celebration of the day of the village of Sorokovschina, Uzdensky district, Minsk region, Republic of Belarus.

Most residents of the village, which now has more than 100 houses, came to this holiday. Our village turned 98 years old.

Almost no one knew that it was laid in 1921, and then there was only 1 house in it, in which one family of 5 lived. For almost 100 years of its existence, the village grew, then declined and almost disappeared. But since the 2000s, the village of Sorokovschina received a second wind. People began to return to it again, families again began to build houses, cultivate the land. Now we have gas heating, electricity, a good road, landline telephone, optical Internet and television. It remains to hold a central water supply.

In Belarus, the years 2018-2020 have been declared the years of the Little Homeland, which means that local governments are trying to do even more for the development of villages so that they live comfortably, just like in a city.

Fine artists, musicians and the Ozeryanochka choir performed at a small celebration. The head of the district congratulated the oldest villagers and handed them gifts. Grandmother Anya lives in the village for the longest time — 63 years.

Children had fun on an inflatable trampoline and ate popcorn. Adults danced, sang songs, participated in competitions.

The celebration ended with a firework. All participants were charged with positive emotions.

A small village however a big celebration @AndrewMn . What are the main reasons why people are returning to the these small villages?

@AdamGT The state began to take care of infrastructure and help. At home, they connect gas, Internet. In fact, not everyone wants to live in a village. But, probably, many also move because of some traditions. Our grandmothers and great-grandmothers lived in the village. There is something special about this.

Hi @AndrewMn . Thank you for sharing. Your post brought me back to my childhood memories. We have the same events in Bulgaria and when I was a child my grandparents used to take me there every now and then.

That said, I would like to kindly ask you to change your profile photo to something less business-like.

Sorry for my late reply @AndrewMn

I am so happy that you joined “Double the fun - Showcase your country - #TeamChallenge on LocalGuidesConnect” with this post.

I live in a small village too, so I find interesting how the villages preserve the traditions.

Another great post from #TeamBelarus.

Well done

@IrrPavlova Thanks for your rating of the post. It is very nice that our team was noticed :). Regarding the profile photo - I, unfortunately, did not find where to change it. It’s just that my profile here coincides with the working profile in Google. Maybe that’s why another avatar is displayed here?
