Views of the Grand Canyon from the Mather Point

The Mather point is another stellar viewpoint in the series of places for great views of the Grand Canyon.

I had to walk a little bit from the visitor center but not much since the walk was enjoyable.

Be careful about the slippery terrain after you leave the main trail.

The Mather point is especially famous for the sunset and sunrise views.

A fellow visitor told me that during a full moon, he could see much of the canyon in softer tones.

I visited here on a weekday and the peace and serenity made this viewpoint a wonderful time to visit.

I also spotted a deer and elk near the road going to this point but there seemed nothing to worry about since those wild animals were quite far and perhaps were used to human movement in that area.

:wheelchair: Acessibility

There are accessible washrooms and benches to take some rest if required.

How to Reach

I took a tour bus from Las Vegas to reach here.

Where to Eat

The best place is the Grand Canyon Visitor Center where most tour buses will halt after a 2-hour travel from Las Vegas.

@TusharSuradkar impresionante así se ve el Gran Cañón, es magistral. Mí consulta es caso de perderte hay algún registro donde dice que entraste y saliste? Hacía calor?

Good question @Maximilianozalazar and important also

The tour guides keep track of who joined them on the tour.

and individuals traveling to the Grand Canyon can call 911 - I think.

But I did not notice keeping a record of the visitors.

Hi @TusharSuradkar ,

Stunning photos! The Grand Canyon just moved higher on my bucket-list. :heavy_check_mark:

By the way, fun fact! A month and a day from now, on February 26th, the Grand Canyon will celebrate its 105th anniversary since its recognition as a national park in 1919. Here’s an old news article telling the story.

Thank you for bringing the magic of the Grand Canyon to Connect!

Hello @TusharSuradkar as always, thank you so much for sharing your valuable trip story on Connect.

Grand Canyon is so amazing!!

I’ve saved your post’s link already. As I haven’t visited any national park in The States yet, Grand Canyon is in my list and your posts will be so helpful when I plan my trip to Las Vegas and Arizona someday.

Now I’m curious, how many national parks in The States that you’ve visited so far?

Thank you @DeniGu

For the best views of the Grand Canyon, the time of the year and the time of the day are important.

I visited in the middle of Summer, so Arizona was very warm.

Also, a sunny day with clear skies is not desirable since it creates strong shadows.

Luckily the day I visited was a bit overcast, so the light spread evenly all over the place, giving a uniform appearance of the canyons.

Thank you, @Velvel .

I sincerely hope you get an opportunity to visit the Grand Canyon soon.

There are plenty of national parks in the US of which some are good, but the rest are just hype to me.

Some national parks are simply wilderness, though many people love that too.

Some parks are very difficult to reach and also for getting around.

I too hope to visit a few more parks on the next trip

Thanks a lot @TravellerG

These compliments coming from an accomplished, knowledgeable, and reputed photography enthusiast like you mean a lot to me.

I was thinking of sharing links to the original 4096 Ă— 2160 size photos via a link to view the details on larger 4k monitors.

I will share a link to those uploads and tag you again.
