Views of the Grand Canyon from Kolb Studio

I am not sure what the Kolb Studio was meant for, but our tour guide asked us to enter this place to purchase souvenirs and snacks and told us that there were some amazing views from the backside of this place. Probably there was an art studio downstairs in the building, but I did not go there.

Indeed, this place provided some stunning closeup views of the Grand Canyon.

Also, from the backside of the Kolb Studio was access to the walking trail along the rim of the canyon that led to a man-made arched entrance.

The views were stunning.

The vastness of this place was mind-boggling, and this viewpoint shows that!

Make sure to walk along the face of the cliffs and not on the cliff side when the mules arrive from the opposite side.

Here’s a closeup look at the entrance that was carved out hundreds of years ago by the Red Indians.

It was wide enough to allow one person each to pass on both sides even as I stood with both hands stretched out.

I kept walking here to enjoy all that nature’s beauty has to offer.

A great spot to take pictures on the edge of the cliff.

While the whole Grand Canyon was spectacular, this spot had views of so many different shapes and colored rock formations, it is incredible.

Also, there were unusually fewer people out there in June 2023 when I visited.
I could relax and enjoy the scenes.

In the photo below, the Bright Angel Lodge is seen in the distant far.

Even if located a bit far from the Grand Canyon Visitor Center, this point was truly an awesome viewing area with spectacular views in every direction.

The temperature was perfect during high afternoon.

It’s hard to explain the view but I felt like my eyes struggled to comprehend just how incredible this canyon is with pictures.

Even being physically there my eyes still couldn’t figure out what was going on.

In addition to an impressive view off of their store balconies, there was a nice assortment of merchandise in a wide variety of styles.

From the second floor of the Kold Studio, I could enjoy the closeup views of the Canyon Cliffs using a pair of binoculars which were retro mechanical beauties.

Another important plaque that I read along the way was about NOT throwing coins in the valley which many visitors do out here.

The Eagles flying out here mistake the coins for food and suffer from copper and zinc poisoning from the coins.

After 2 hours of trekking, it grew a bit darker and the sun started to set, but I could not take my eyes off the captivating beauty of the Grand Canyons and captured this photo as a lasting memory.

The place is not accessible for wheelchairs beyond a point.

It is hard to believe that the Kold Studio was built in 1914, well over 100 years ago.

It looks much more contemporary.

The views of the Grand Canyon from the Kold Studio are truly stunning.

It was well worth a visit, even if the interiors of the gift shop were crowded with visitors.

How to Reach

I took a tour bus from Las Vegas to reach here.

The best place is the Grand Canyon Visitor Center where most tour buses will halt after a 2-hour travel from Las Vegas.

This is a beautiful park which only half drive from Vegas I guess. My sister were telling me…As you can see in the pictures, there are magical rick formations and many scenic trails. They do allow rock climbing almost everywhere Important: On weekends you will need to book your admission ticket in advance. They allow only certain no of cars inside, because of parking capacity at view points. @TusharSuradkar ⁩ ji how did u visit place by government booking or privately? There might be thrilling experiences as roads require a 4X4 vehicl

@Soykot_azam great question and very important for the best views of the Grand Canyon

Summer is the best time since there is snow seen in Winter.

A sunny day is not the best since that creates dark shadows and bright spots.

With an overcast sky, the light spreads evenly giving a more uniform lighting and views.

However, there could be some haze on cloudy days that could limit views in the distant far.

Great insights into the facilities available at the Grand Canyon @Ketan_Kangankar

I wasn’t aware of these.

I took a private tour from Las Vegas by bus from the ‘Get Your Guide’ website.

It was a reasonable charge for the trip, and they also covered additional places on the way like Seligman, Hoover Dam view, and Kingman on the historic Route 66.

So the overall duration of the trip extends to over 5-6 hours resulting in a one-day trip from Las Vegas.

Thank you @JuanAudelo2024 @Annaelisa for your valuable comments.

I was hoping to see the native Indians in the Grand Canyon area but that did not happen.

Out here in India when we go out in nature and deep into the jungles, it is common to see and meet tribal people living in the forest for several thousands of years now.

Also, the Red Indians are of special interest to me since about 500 years ago a European set out in search of the riches of India and ended up discovering the American continents. And thinking that he discovered India, started calling the natives Indians, and the name stuck.
