Looks delicious @UyenHuynh
I want that too
Hi @Sahilmsk2208 and @UyenHuynh,
So many foreign tourists ask similar questions on Vietnamese cuisine, especially precise names of different kinds of dishes. It is best to use the local original name of any dishes in Vietnam so as to avoid misunderstanding. For example, “pho” is a kind of famous Vietnamese noodle. The term “pho” now becomes popular and familiar. It’s very difficult to translate any kinds of Vietnamese dishes.
As far as the name of “Bánh cuốn” is concerned, there are two ways of translation:
-
Roll cake
-
Stuffed pancake
The word “roll” has 2 meanings: 1) to make something flat and 2) to wrap and cover something. This word describes a process to make “Bánh cuốn”.
I’d recommend you to visit Vietnam to understand all kinds of food in this country. I’d like to thank @UyenHuynh for sharing good information on “eating”.
How about specialty dishes/food in your homeland?
Cordial @Anh1710
Hi@UyenHuynh
Good that you have shared with us, but only in picture form.
Ok, Best.
@UyenHuynh Didn’t see that while I was there. However, it does look tasty. That is the other thing about S. East Asia, the diversity of food is fabulous.
Hi @UyenHuynh . Thanks for sharing.
Maybe we have to change the motto “Miếng trầu là đầu câu chuyện” (A quid of betel and areca-nut starts the ball rolling) so that it can be more up-to-date.
I think you are skilful at cooking. Therefore your comments focus on “eating”. I like your comments.
I’m from Ho Chi Minh City. How about you?
Cordial
Hi @Anh1710 I also live in Ho Chi Minh city, Tan Phu district.
Actually, I am not really skillful at cooking, most of dishes are home made by my mom, I usually love in capturing photos of food, travel and beauty. If you are interested, you can follow me through my Local Guide account and this Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/uhu.lahlah/). I am also in a progress of creating my website
@O_Nate : I am Vietnamese people, but myself is also really surprised by the diverse of Vietnamese food. With one dish, it’s also different by regions.
