Vienna - in the footsteps of the Habsburgs Part 2

This is a continuation of our family trip in Vienna.

The first part is here:

On Sunday we took the metro to “Belvedere Castle”.

Belvedere Castle has two separate baroque palaces, amazing garden and gallery.

The exhibition austrian art from middle ages to present shows works by Gustav Klimt, Oskar Kokoschka, Egon Schiele, Ferdinand Georg Waldmuller, Gustav Mahler… There is also a collection of Impressionists - Vincent Van Gogh, Caude Monet and others.

The building was recently renovated. There is a magnificent marble hall decorated with frescoes of Italian masters, in which a documentary about the origin of the post-war independent Austria was signed in 1955.

After a tour of art exhibitions, we went for coffee and cake to the castle café.

In the afternoon we walked in the castle garden and admired the fountains with Baroque statues.

In the evening, we went to the “Votivkirche” church for worship. Because it was the end of the school year we experienced a student mass accompanied by a modern band.

After Mass, we went for an evening walk to the city center. We admired the atmosphere of illuminated historic buildings, night cafes, the “Ferstel shopping arcade” with a Baroque statue and luxury shops.

On Monday we visited another residence of the Habsburgs - “Schonbrunn Palace”.

Since it is forbidden to take pictures in the interior, I only bring pictures from the exterior. We attended a guided tour in English, which took us through the palace and showed us the life of Monarch Maria Theresa and her descendants. We were captivated by the magnificent decoration of the palace, the wall frescoes with scenes from the various parts of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. We have seen portraits of a branched family of Habsburgs and its related noble families from all over Europe.

After the tour, we went to a cafe for traditional apple strudel and coffee. We spent the afternoon in the adjacent gardens of the Versailes chateau, where we admire the beautifully landscaped beds of roses, hedges, the baroque fountain.

We also visited the botanical garden in the “Palmenhaus glasshouse”, where we admired tropical plants and trees from the forest, a beautiful lake with water lilies and orchids.

A visit to Vienna showed us the life of the noble family of the Habsburgs, who left behind a rich cultural heritage.

The current Vienna is a varied mix of tourists from all over the world, artists, students, locals and immigrants. We were touched by the atmosphere of the early Middle Ages, which we know from the works of Alexander Dumas, Sigmund Freud, Johan Strauss, Volfgang Amadeus Mozart and other greats of his time.

More excursions will be needed to visit all the interesting places in Vienna.

The shots were taken with the LG G5 smartphone.

The night shots were taken with the Fuji X100T camera.

Hi @KarolT

While going through part two here, I found the place seems more serene and calm, and my eyes glued to the screen for the moment.
