Victoria Public Market - Tourism Victoria, BC

As a growing city, Victoria, BC strives on creating local spaces for business owners and entrepreneurs to grow. As a a born and raised Victorian (I lie, I didn’t actually grow up in the city of Victoria but one of the surrounding municipalities), I have seen the city and surrounding areas, transform over the years. From small shopping plazas to beautifully landscaped, family friendly, shopping centers; and the Victoria Public Market is not to be forgotten.

Located in the old Hudson Bay building on Douglas St., it is the perfect location for something this section of the city has been missing… a market to call home. With local vendors such as Vij’s Sutra, Roast Meat and Sandwich Shop and Victoria’s Pie Company, there are near endless varieties of food options. The market has also recently teamed up with a pasta place for all your spaghetti needs. If you think it just could not get better than that, imagine a place where you and a friend can bring your kids and hang out for the afternoon. That’s right. Bumble + Hive offers an amazing rate for all day play, birthday parties and special events. Locally owned and locally made, your child will love the creativity throughout every detail.

I truly could go on and on about how great the market is, so I will. With great food comes great entertainment. Free live music is also a huge benefit of spending an afternoon in the market. Did I also mention, free wifi? The library is great for some people, but it can get crowded, smell weird and be a bit depressing. Why not study in a beautiful space? With plenty of chairs and tables, you can pop your headphones in and get working. Victoria as a community, creates spaces and opportunities for everyone to enjoy.

Whether you are a tourist, local or student studying abroad, you’ll love everything the, Victoria Public Market has to offer. You’ll find yourself a ‘regular’ such as I. See you in the market!
