Vesak Day 2019 At Borobudur Temple

Borobudur Temple is the biggest buddhist temple in the world, located in Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia. Every Vesak Day, they held a big event to celebrate Vesak Day. This year, I have a chance to attend and be participant. The whole event start from May 16th 2019 until May 19th, but I only joined the main event from May 18th. This celebration was really lit! Walked with thousand people and parade from Mendut Temple to Borobudur Temple.

I wanna share some pics of the event, hope you like it.

If you have any experience like this please share with me, I would be so happy. If you have any question about this, do not be hesitate to ask.

Happy Vesak Day!

Foto-fotonya bagus sekali, @sheillyuliani . Kita yang melihat seolah dibawa langsung ke tengah-tengah acara dan terlibat di dalamnya. Bagus sekali… :))

Hello @sheillyuliani ,

Thank you for sharing these amazing photos with us, it’s really interesting to be able to see the rituals from the pictures you shared with us.

I am sure it is very crowded during the Vesak celebration, is the temple open for public on that day?

I would like to let you know that I will change your topic label to Local Stories, where it will get a better attention.

hello! @AngieYC

The temple still open for public. Participants who have registered will get a sign card, follow the parade, and get free entry to the temple, that sign makes the difference between visitor in Borobudur before the event start and the participants. The registration to participate was free but if you want to join the “light of peace” (lantern) you have to pay 100k/person.
