Venu Van Royal Retreat, Rajgir, Bihar, India

Venu Van is situated in Rajgir, Bihar. Rajgir was an ancient capital of Magadh as this town is mentioned in Mahabharata too.

Venu Vana is mentioned in Buddhist scriptures. King Bimbisara of Magadha, whose guest was Buddha and he was his great follower of Buddha, found no more suitable place than his pleasure garden, which was peaceful, close to the city and a pleasant resting place or a beautiful retreat for his guests and his disciples, and dedicated it to Lord Buddha and his followers.
This is also known as Bamboo forest as it’s an artificial garden which was gifted to Lord Buddha by the King Bimbisara where he was living, meditating and practicing spiritualism. This is a beautiful garden and environment is quite spiritual and peaceful. Venu Vana and Kandak Tank Water tank are considered sacred in Buddhist texts. Chinese Traveller Hiuen Tsang also described the details of Venu Vana in his travelogue. Buddha resided for twelve rainy season in this garden which was an ideal place for meditation.

This is a historical garden and Buddhist pilgrimage. After attaining Bodhitva Buddha stayed four months of first rainy season in this garden. It was his significant residence and he was teaching his disciples at this place.
