Hello people!
Looking for old post to the next #StateChallenge #CityChallenge about the city of Los Angeles I found this one, well it’s was one of my first posts here, I had not much idea about how to make an interesting and why not helpful post to others. Happily I learned in this time, thanks to many people here who was so kind to let me know the right way, thanks for that.
So, I decided to rewrite this and tell you more about this beautiful place located in Venice, Los Angeles, CA.
Venice Canals Historic District is a hidden gem placed in Venice neighborhood, an eclectic and bohemian beach town located just off 25th Street in Venice Beach, close to Marina del Rey. When you’re walking around the noisy Venice Beach and you get there is like you have been teleported to the original Venice in Italy (well, I’ve never been there but I saw many beautiful pics of it, don’t be mad my Italian friends here please). The view in front of you will be change one hundred percent. The charming beach houses, those bridges, the canals, many ducklings and the calm of the place are speechless.
This place was created in 1905 by Abbot Kinney, this developer wanted to recreate the feel and appearance of Venice, Italy in the west coast of U.S.
The water enter to the canals from sea gates in Marina Del Rey and in Washington Boulevard. They open at low tide and they close at high tide trapping the water for 3 days before being refreshed again.
Actually there are 4 east-west canals:
- Howland Canal
- Sherman Canal
- Carroll Canal
- Linnie Canal
and 2 north-south canals:
- East Canal
- Grand Canal
I have a funny memory of this place. I was there walking with a friend, nobody was there just us and she was looking for signal in her phone and she found a net called “FBI Van”, can you imagine our faces at that moment? haha
This place is a must if you visit the city, you can easily get there by car or public transportation. If you want to take a ride for the canals you will need your own boat without motor.
Despite I been in LA many times I only visited Venice Canals in my first trip there back in 2013, can you believe it? me either haha next time.
Have you ever visited Venice Canals? Did you like it?
Greetings.
Silvy.
