Vedi Complex Kumbhalgarh Fort Rajasthan India.
Many interesting facts came out during the Kumbhalgarh fort tour. Rana Kumbha was a skilled strategist and valiant ruler. He was a worshiper of Shakti Devi and Shiva. He respected Jainism and cared for Jain followers. He was also a scholar of the Vedas. When I come across the Vedi Complex, which is located near Ram Pol, is a proof of this.
Religious rituals in every religion have been organized since ancient times. The importance of the altar is well understood by all followers. According to my information, the altar means, the place where sacrifice is performed in Vedic religion and it is mainly for the sacred fire which is also called Yajna. It is organized with Vedic hymns in the presence of pilgrims, it’s a grand celebrations on special occasions.
This heritage is a three-storied octagonal, magnificent building built on high plinth with openings all around, and three more buildings including a cenotaph built on a raised platform, at the rear side of this three storeyed structure, which are all part of this complex but all are separate, which is, in fact, a walled complex.
Entrance of the complex is very impressive and three storey structure is having many architectural and decorative elements. It’s having creamish coloured stone pillars, beams and ceilings. Pillars are having sculptures and carved with many mythical motifs. Floating bodies which are neither divinely nor worldly are the guardian of the sacred place. Ceilings are extensively carved and balconies are having decorated stone balustrades, stone lattice etc are magnificent. Top is covered with a large hemispherical dome. Complete roof is having decorated stone summit and overhangs all around. Rear side cenotaph are umbrella is built by grey stone having four pillars supporting the roof topped with dome, overhangs and one edifice is having hemispherical domes at its roof, it’s a single storey structure and two other are having decorated spires at the top.
It’s a major attraction from the art and architectural point of view. It was built by Rana Kumbha and later it was renovated by other Mewar rulers. It’s a sacred place belongs to the Jainism as interior suggest. Archaeological Survey of India have not provided much historical details. It’s a must visit grand structure. It’s also a major attraction among the devotees, tourists, art and architecture lovers.
