Varzaneh Desert is located in the geographical location of N3223 to N3200 and E5240 to E5247 in Isfahan province. Varzaneh Desert is located 100 km east of Isfahan and 150 km west of Yazd in Isfahan province. This desert is limited to the east of the Gavkhoni wetland, north to Varzaneh and Zayandeh Rood, south to Hassan Abad, and west to Hasan Abad’s communication axis to Varzaneh. The area is covered with limestone (sandy hills) that has a northern-southern plain. Its length extends from the Zayandehrud margin and the starting point of the rivers to its end is in the southwest of Gavkhoni wetland about 45 km and its width in the northern region is about 35 km, which decreases this width in the southern direction. In the south, this width is 500 meters. In the northern part of the desert, it has a shape similar to the ellipse, which surrounds this oval surrounded by long sandy hills and drastically decreases in the height of the hills. The highest elevation of sand dunes is about 100 meters, located in the northeast of this oval. The average height of the river from the open water level is about 1,450 meters. The two walls connect to the southwest of Gavkhoni wetland, forming a single wall in the northern southern direction. This single trench wall extends about 9 km to the south of Gavkhoni wetland.
In this area, due to different winds, different forms of sandy sandstones, including long sandy hills, crested sandy hills, and sandy pyramids, are unique in their country. The area is about 17,000 hectares.
Vegetation
The vegetation cover is mainly vegetable and scambil(Calligonum comosum) shrubs. There are also numerous shrubs sand-like plants. In the desert areas, there are desert shrubs and seldom visible shrines. The vegetation of the region is very rich due to the humidity of the Gavkhoni wetland. There is no visible vegetation in the peripheral sandy wall of this ridge.
Animal cover
The animal’s area has been very rich in recent years. But in recent years due to the drying of wetlands Gavkhoni, now animals such as foxes, rats, hawk, common buzzard desert, sand cat, horned viper, snake, camel, scorpions, rabbits and combed the desert area Observation.
