Dashashwamedh Ghat
If You are living in India, the one city which You will force yourself to go and explore is Varanasi. I am fortunate enough to visit here multiple times and every time I went, I experienced different version of this city.
This time I want to explore ghats (banks of the holy river, Ganges) as Varanasi is the city of 84 ghats and every single ghat has a story of its own. I am gonna tell you about the three most visited and most significant ghats.
Dashashwamedh Ghat:
This time, I stayed in Varanasi for 5 days and every morning I just came here and spent my time having different experiences including seeing the vendors working, sellers trying the techniques to get the work done, (they actually try to please the foreigners to get a handsome amount from them, and I am gonna defend them by saying it happens everywhere, isn’t it?) Seeing the Babas chilling and spreading the gyan, is altogether a different experience. Over all, You can learn and Live at the same time.
Assi Ghat
Assi Ghat:
You can have a Great-Great Time here. I went here at noon, crossed the river and explored the other side of the Ghat. The fare is way cheaper which is under 50 INR ( Around 50-70 Dollars for foreigners) for the going and returning (It varies in the evening at the time of Pious Ganga Aarti). You can have your photos clicked. and you can feel the holy river. I rode camel, horse and I was about to ride the king of the Jungle, Alas! I didn’t find him there. ? Anyway, You must visit the 80th Ghat of Varanasi if You are here even for a day.
Manikarnika Ghat:
This is the largest Masaan (where the last rite happened) of Varanasi. If you have ever seen Varanasi City in a film or anywhere, this is the place which gets enough frames. There are many reasons one of them is, it is believed that those who die here, gets the heaven and can be freed from this cycle of born and death. I visited there many a times and forced myself to sit and watch the definite truth of life. It’s not an easy task to hold yourself there but You can’t avoid the truth, can You?
Manikarnika Ghat
P.S. The Hotel Salvation is an Indian Movie which You can watch and have an idea about the redemption and why Varanasi is chosen for that.
