Utrecht (Netherlands) is one of the most characteristic cities in the Netherlands.
A small town that welcomes many tourists and students from all over the world every year.
Arriving at Schiphol airport, the fastest and most convenient way to reach Utrecht is by train.
Tickets can be purchased without problems at the vending machines or you can buy the Utrecht Region Pass .
Once you arrive at Utrecht Central Station, you can reach the city centre in a few minutes by bus or by taxi.
Public transport is very frequent and punctual.
I spent the Christmas holidays with my sister who lives in Utrecht and thanks to her I was able to experience the daily life of the place.
Its canals and friendly people make it a really smart city.
On weekends, people have a hard time spending their days on the boat, eating grilled meat cooked on the boat and drinking beer with friends. Many people prefer canoeing sports and others prefer to stroll along the canals with their furry friends…
I stayed at the Hotel Museumkwartier Utrecht.
It’s a very cosy, cosy and centrally located hotel with a view of the canal.
The rooms were clean, the breakfast was plentiful and served in the room at the desired time. The managers of the hotel, are young and very friendly guys.
I had a great time and did not spend much money.
Utrecht was the base from which I left to reach other wonderful cities.
As soon as I arrived in Utrecht, my sister decided to invite me for lunch in a very famous and special place: DE POORT.
Here you can enjoy interesting dishes and drink good beer.
Another restaurant where you can eat great meat is American Steakhouse Broadway (take a look here).
In the evening the city is full of young people drinking beer and chatting with their friends.
The tower of Utrecht Cathedral
dominates the city and welcomes many religious and tourists to admire the beautiful interior architecture and from the top of the tower you can see the city of Amsterdam.
Its university is famous for its high number of employees and students. It is the largest research centre in the Netherlands and thanks to this, Utrecht is considered the city of young people.
From the point of view of cultural activities, the city presents itself as a dynamic and very active center, especially for the presence of various museums, theaters, art schools.
Below you can look at some pictures I took that show the city better!
