I am wondering if it would be best to use the top level website for locations, or a more specific page on the same domain specifically for that venue?
For example you have a fast food chain, that has several venues all over the country/world. Now you have a venue of that fast food chain in “City A”. The website of the fast food chain ( https://fastfoodchain.com ) has a specific web page for every of its venues ( https://fastfoodchain.com/city-a.html ).
My question is: should we use: https://fastfoodchain.com , or the more specific https://fastfoodchain.com/city-a.html .
At the moment, I choose the more specific web page if I create a location, or edit the the website from a wrong URL. But if the more general website was used, I wouldn’t change it.
Is this a good practice?
I currently follow the following order. Starting at the top, and falling to the bottom as long it is not available:
- Specific website: https://fastfoodchain.com/city-a.html
- General website: https://fastfoodchain.com
- Third-party website of reliable source (eg. city has a listing of the venues)
- Third-party website on social media that looks maintained by the owners of the venue
Any suggestions or tips on this approach are appreciated.
