Hi, guys. What I’m here to tell you is how I’ve been managing to use my time as a Google Local Guide in order to map places that serve vegan food in Rio.
I know you guys might have heard that Brazilian people have the chance to eat lots of fruits and vegetables because we have lots of them here and some are really the cheapest thing we can imagine buing, right? This whole fact is true but we also face some difficulty finding restaurants in which we have the chance to eat meals 100% cruelty free.
At lunch time, the cheapest food dish you might find on the streets of most neighbourhoods in the south area of Rio de Janeiro would definitely include a piece of pork, beef, fish or chicken. Although the side dish will certainly be made out of beans, rice, salad and a portion of vegetables or fries. Why don’t restaurant owners don’t simply announce the possibility of ordering only the side dishes instead? The answer for that question is what makes me use Google Local Guides the most.
I have been using Google Local Guide opportunity to point out the fact that restaurants all around should be thinking about the way the offer food. Besides the fact of being able to produce and offer vegan food, they should be letting people know that vegan meals are a possibility not a favor we have to ask restaurant managers for.
I do think that connecting vegan people to the places where we are welcome is really important, too. We have the chance to meet up for a good reason, for good food, too, and to honor menus that don’t push us away.
All that being said, how do you guys see the offering of vegan meals at your place?
