I find it’s a real pain when other users post photos that have nothing to do with that location. I’ve tried finding a 2020 answer as to the latest advice on how to either attach it to a different location or remove it from the wrong location.
I’m in a small town and I often know what the photo is of. Is reporting it the only option?
Hi @Micky_T , I agree with you. Its is really unpleasant to find photos that are nog in any way related to a place on google maps. I know about the option of reporting the photo.
@Micky_T , I started to fight with this issue long time ago, and on march 2018 I wrote a proposal for suggesting the correct location for these photos. Flagging the correct POI for Photos of wrong POI . The Idea has been closed on October 2019, but still possible to vote and comment in there.
There are not important and recent update on this matter. Our reference is always the Google Maps Help page:
Report a photo on Google Maps If you see something in Google Maps that is inappropriate or inaccurate, you can let us know.
Search for a place or click it on the map. On the top left, click the large photo to open the photo gallery. Click the photo you want to report. On the left side, click More > Report a problem
BTW, My feeling is that we need to make a distinction between
A single mistake - In this case we report a photo
A behavior - In this case we can also, from the App, open the profile of the Local guide and use the report function on the top right, to report the Local Guide
I know my reply is not solving the issue, but this is actually the range of option that we have. In addiction, if the behavior of the Local Guide is really bad, we can always report a Local Guide here in Connect, following the indication of this post: How to identify and report fraud on Google Maps
