Uploading videos to Maps

Hello fellow Local Guides,

I have looked at multiple solutions and cannot find out how I can upload videos of locations to Maps. I know the clips should be under 30 seconds. This is uploading from iPhone to the Google Maps Application. I have the options to upload pictures but never video clips.

Hi @_iwrotethesky , if you want to upload a video from IPhone, the procedure is explained here; Add, remove, or share photos and videos selecting the iPhone tab:

On your iPhone or iPad, open your Gallery app or Google Photos

Select a photo or video.

Tap Share

Tap Post to Google Maps

Choose where to post:

  • If it’s clear where your photo or video is from, Google Maps will select a place for you.
  • If not, tap Pick a place and search for an address or place.

Possibly you are getting perplexed because you see a camera icon in the app which prompts to upload photos only.
However, you can select a video also through that.

You may be facing another hurdle if the file type is HEIF. You have to convert that to one compatible for storage in Google Photos.
That can be any one of the following formats.:
Videos: .mpg, .mod, .mmv, .tod, .wmv, .asf, .avi, .divx, .mov, .m4v, .3gp, .3g2, .mp4, .m2t, .m2ts, .mts, and .mkv files.
