But, not showing on the maps:

Note: I uploaded the above image 9 days ago. Waited till today, but it was not showing on Maps. So, I deleted the previous image and re-uploaded it today. And still not showing.

Hi @DibyayanC

I suggest you remove the 2 lines wartermark text which is against the guidelines. Then delete the image from your photo contribution list. And finally upload the edited image.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers

Hi,

Can you please show me the rule regarding watermark where it is written

I have uploaded hundreds of photos with my watermark and some of them are currently featured at #1 in photos of of those particular places’ Google Map pages.

@MortenCopenhagen

Just uploaded the photo without watermark and it is visible on maps.

Thank you.

What does the rule say regarding personal watermark?

I digged up the watermark rules resently in this reply.

You may want to read a bit above and under the reply I linked to.

I would consider the standard text from oneplus to be advertising.

There are no rules specific to “private” watermarks. A watermark is a watermark.

Happy to learn that your photo went public without the 2 text lines.

Did you check how many of your photos and reviews are hidden?

One things that I have found out recently after getting your suggestions.

Some times your reviews will not be visible to others if the photos you have posted along with the review have watermark.

I have deleted those photos that are not published on Maps and re-uploaded without watermark, the photos went live on maps along with the attached reviews, which were not visible at the first place.

Thanks dear for the precious information that you have provided.

Thank you so much for the tag, @MortenCopenhagen , and thanks for making the test, @DibyayanC .

The subject is indeed intriguing, and I suppose we need to go a bit in deep with it, Morten.

I would say that that kind of watermark is not strictly against the rules (the position is correct, the content is not promotional) but it is interesting to see how the AI is interpreting the text

How is “Shot on OnePlus” not a commercial message? And the one line only watermarks guideline is clearly violated here.

I guess the spamfilter is answering our questions in this example. But the spam filter is not always consistent.

All the best

Yes, @MortenCopenhagen , indeed you could be right.

In this case, if Google choose to run a check of all the photos, we will see a lot of contributions vanishing from Maps, because a lot of users use that watermark, probably to demonstrate that the photo is original, or maybe because the watermark is the default option for that phone

After the watermark image testing got successful I started deleting my previously published images with watermark that were not appeared for public, and re-uploading them.

And guess what, a huge success. The difference between uploaded photos and photos appeared for public are getting reduced with every submission and also the attached reviews number too.

In other words, the testing is successful. We shouldn’t upload images with any kind of watermark on it.
