I’m not sure if it’s just an issue my side so I’m posting here.
Whenever I try to post photos to Google Maps via my desktop it won’t allow me to.
I get a notification telling me to log into my account, but I am already logged in. Even if I retype my login info it redirects me to the same as before.
Just wondering if I’m the only one experiencing this or are we/have we always only been able to upload to maps via our devices?
I’d appreciate any feedback on this matter as I have quite a few photos stored on my desktop that I’d need to transfer to my device if this is the case.
Thank you for reaching out, we are sorry for the inconvenience.
In this case, can you share a screenshot showing the notification you mentioned?, by sharing this screenshot it will really help us to do the investigation.
In addition to that I am changing your topic label to How-tos, as Idea Exchange is a place on Connect for Local Guides to share their feedback and ideas with our team to tell us about a way to improve the Local Guides program.
Thanks for your response Angie, appreciate the feedback.
If it happens again I’ll send the screenshot on this thread. I haven’t tried to log in via desktop for a few days now. Will try later and let you know.
I wanted to upload again via my Desktop, tried to as well as using your suggestion, but I keep getting the following response: - please see photo attached:
I then click the button to sign in but nothing happens. The pop up just reappears after a few moments. Also, I am already signed in so not too sure why it asks me to again.
I hope you’re well today. I’m not sure if you received my last comment regarding the upload issue I’ve been having with contributing photos to Maps via my desktop. The image is attached as to the response I was receiving when trying to upload.
I’ve subsequently gone and signed out of my Google accounts and now am only signed in on my account which is linked to Local Guides and Contributing To Google and Google Maps.
However, when trying to load photos I am now greeted with this response:
Please, could you or @AngieYC or another Google Moderator assist me with this?
If I am not mistaken you are using a MacBook? There might be some cookie issues or some other apple madness that might hassle your logins etc. Make sure you can accept cookies, damn now I am hungry,
I also don’t use Hi-Res photos for uploads, I use the smallest but best quality, one of the quickest ways to do this is just right to click off your Facebook galleries. Facebook would have downsized the images, so not only have you got a way to view the images, you can download them, and quickly re-upload to this platform.
I have been experimenting with a diferent post to see what works and what doesn’t.
People here want pictures and small amounts of Text explaining the pictures. When I have narrated a post almost cartoon style, many seem to really enjoy that, the only problem is if I upload 5 photos with a short text, most people will just give you one like for the whole post rather than like each individual photo.
I guess we should not be chasing after likes, but this whole system is designed to keep you posting, and levelling up. You will notice how you will start doing reviews for places closer to your location now, as you have been to many of those places and can give great reviews. This, in turn, helps you learn and get to know your city a lot better than you ever would have.
So do a mix, write a post for here, post some photos of places on maps, give a review and write longer reviews, make those reviews fun to read, factual and anything but boring. Look out for places to add in your area, and gather intel on those places, this I find I have made some great new friends as I am putting their business on the map and allowing people to contact them etc.
