Unusual Maps behavior (Android app)

Haha I just posted about Unusual Maps behavior (web app) and so went to check this on mobile. Well while I can’t repeat the earlier problem on mobile, in the process I discover a different problem. The first screenshot below shows a photo I took of Suncorp Bank and yes as you can see it is indeed a photo of Suncorp Bank.

However, that’s a photo of a different branch of Suncorp Bank I took in September 2001! That’s a photo of Suncorp at 303 Collins Street as clearly shown on the eave of the branch (see the screenshot #2 and #3 below) and not 233 Collins St, Melbourne as suggested by Maps!!! To close the deal, screenshot #4 shows a photo of the real Suncorp Bank at 233 Collins Street, Melbourne (address shown on right hand side eave).

Have you observed unusual Maps behavior like this?

If I’m following correctly @AdamGT you’re saying that your photo from “Branch A” somehow migrated to “Branch B”… Yes?

If so, then I can definitely say I’ve not had that happen before! How strange is that? I’ll have to start paying attention for that to happen, now.

Yes that’s right @Mikeinthefalls something to keep an eye on I guess.

I can’t imagine a reason for this to happen aside from the bank shuffling open POIs when one of them opened @AdamGT . Each POI is completely independent, so it’s no different than you taking a picture at Starbucks and having it show up for a shoe store. Could it be that 233 Collins opened after 303, and maybe some unknowing marketing staffer just updated the Google Business address from 303?

Very odd, and concerning.

I’m tending to think that you are right @JustJake . There is some human intervention here. I posted only to see if anyone else had had this or similar experience.
