I’ve recently found this really nifty website by the City of Johannesburg Municipality that gives updated names of roads, transit routes, house numbers etc.
So I’ve been using that quite a lot to either correct the names that appear on Google Maps or , my personal favourite, adding street names to Unnamed Roads. I’ve perfected the art of looking at the 2 maps and finding discrepancies to an art, really.
I get the best rush when I get those ‘Published’ emails coming in succession, one after the other. I get an even greater rush watching my points go higher and higher. It’s really cool knowing that you’re updating from a reliable source, a government agency (not hearsay) so the information you’re disseminating is unquestionable.
