Unknown place is showing up on my photo contribution

My photo contributions with more than a hundred thousand views are now moved to unknown place. I’m really disappointed to see this happened all of a sudden. I saw some threads where it says, the place might have got deleted. But then my question is, how we had this place listed in the map for years.The location it is not a shop or building to get changed soon, It is a place still exist in my country.

If it is so vulnerable for a deletion, everyone may have to create their own instance of the same place to make sure their contributions won’t lose in future or At least there should be a way to link the images to another existing place without losing the view counts.

Need to consider this as a serious issue if not fixed yet, else if we already have a fix for the same, please help me out.

I am sorry about it @prasanthkc , and I had exactly the same experience.

An ancient Abbey was deleted (closed) in Google Maps, and re-opened by another LGs in another position. For this reason it was impossible for me to find the old POI and edit it as Open, because all the search are sending me to the new POI.

For this reason I submitted an idea, for the contributors of a POI to confirm/deny an edit made by other LGs: Prompted for “fact checking” if you contributed to a place with photos / review.

This will help a legitimate POI to remain in place, and not to be removed due to wrong modifications made by others
