How can ONE person in Canada’s largest city really make a difference? Those words seem to keep popping up everytime I begin a new venture in my favourite city… Toronto.
I live right in the middle of it all…the hustle on king west’s financial district, the shop til you drop way of life on queen west, the music that constantly surrounds me in my evening strolls, and the fact that when I step outside of my condo I travel to any part of the world in cuisines…as long as I can decide on where to eat.
And then came GOOGLE MAPS * staple heavenly angel sound *
Everyone knows that you use Google maps in replacement of any other commuting apps. I have been using this app for years as my go to for directions and contact info. But both reviews and the photo’s were my major deciding factors if I was going or not.
I slowly began to contribute when I realized that I was using google for everything I wanted to do, like I mean
e v e r y t h i n g like where to eat, closest gas station, best places to hike, where to dance and where to take out money to spend while I danced. Because I was such a dedicated user, I quickly realized that if I was depending on these reviews and images as much as I was, then I should pay it forward. I strive to have impact, whether it’s in my professional or personal life. I want to leave my mark and help guide others by giving them my opinion or any tips I can offer because that is something that I value myself. I believe that is what keeps us connected in our communities, especially in this world where everything seems so surfaced, fast paced and impersonal. Local Guide advocates for that connectedness and that is why I advocate for the Local Guides Program.
