Hi @MadhusudhanA ,

Thanks for reaching out!

As @TheEagleEye kindly shared, for the moment, Local Guides may proceed to share video material directly on mobile devices (you may check further on the instructions page), as for the moment, it is not possible yet to do so on desktop version of Google Maps.

@TheEagleEye @sonnyNg Thank you for your response, Can I know that its a limited feature (Unable to upload the video from the browser) or Bug from Google Maps?

Thank you,

Madhusudhan A,

Hi @TheEagleEye

The statement “it has never been available to upload video from the desktop”, isn’t true.
Before writing this post, I did that just for experimentation. I could upload a six seconds video to a POI from the desktop.
I suspect, there is a restriction on either the size of the file or duration of the video.
Sharing a screenshot of that. Though, the message is calling that as a photo, it was a video in actuality.

Nevertheless, I remember that some six months back, when I tried to upload a video, I was getting an error message after the upload process was over.
Guessing something to be wrong, I repeated the process thrice.
Every time I got the same failure message.

But to my surprise, when I examined my photo uploads after three months, I discovered three copies of the video at that intended place!

Tagging @MadhusudhanA ; and also @sonnyNg to know whether upload of a video from the desktop is not supposed to be done or so.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the follow up!

Just to be sure, would you mind sharing the file type of the video that was successfully uploaded, @C_T ?

We will make sure to check further on the regard.

Hi @sonnyNg

Yes, sure.
The file type was MP4, recorded on android phone.
I downloaded that from Google photos & then did the upload through Chrome.
File size 16.3 MB & duration 6 seconds.
