I have a passion for photographing and reviewing parks. Living in Chicago means that I can only take nice pictures during certain times of the year. I took some great photos last week but cant add or review the parks. Last year, I was advised to add a new place and add the information there but some places are now doubles like: https://goo.gl/maps/pUcXVrzsMGL9zz3Z9 and https://goo.gl/maps/4GxZf8P8dbLXkrsW8
@ChayaM to see if this is a device issue or account related issue, can you please try writing a review on Google Maps by logging out and logging in to a different Android device and also using a different login information to check where the problem is.
Some of these locations that you have sent are Polygons. They were added by Google on Google Maps and you are not able to add any reviews or photos to them.
I want to help Google Maps and adults that want to take children to parks. At the same time I want to be efficient and not make someone do extra work. Should I go back to adding the park as a new place so there will be two of them until it gets noticed? Is there a way that the Polygons can get converted in Local Guide friendly formats?
I just want to know what Google Maps prefers Local Guides to do.
I have looked again and still can’t find an answer. Out of desperation, I tagged the moderators that have answered related questions recently. If I don’t get a solution before Sunday, I will go back to what I was last told and add all the parks again as new places. It wont be efficient for Google Maps but it will be helpful for the parents that want to take their kids to parks. I have reviews for parks piling up that I want to share information about.
am often facing same issue when i try to add a new place. But in my case the enter arrow on top right isde of screen just doesnt respond… Already tried adding the below place twice today…
@ChayaM those parks are only shapes on Maps they are not set up properly as places. This is why you cannot review them. The best way forward is to submit feedback on each of them and wait for them to be properly set up. Adding them again will probably be “not applied” (rejected) because there is a partial shape there with the same name. The other option you have is to post the list of badly formed places to the Maps Community forum https://support.google.com/maps/community where a product expert might escalate them to the Maps team. Feedback is probably the best approach.
You issue is not the same @goelmyself what is your network connection like I can see you’ve got a strong mobile radio signal but can you browse websites etc? The only time I see this behaviour is when there are too many other people connected to the tower and the tower’s internet connection is all clogged up.
I sent feedback on each of those locations five days and also sent feedback about Tecumsah Park being a double (one a shape and I’ve a place) as of last night, none had been updated. How long should it take? What exactly should I report it as?
I’ll check out the community later.
I tried fixing my typos but it kept overwriting the words already there
It can take weeks or months @ChayaM as you can imagine with millions of Maps users even if a small percent of us send feedback that is still an enormous amount of data to work through.
@goelmyself a polygon is a geospatial information system (GIS) term. Maps is essentially a GIS. A polygon is a series of lines that when joined together form a shape. In the case of this entry, the polygon is the shape of the park and has a colour and a name but doesn’t have the other data necessary in the database to make it active. In the picture below I’ve done a very rough outline of the polygon shape boundary in red. Of interest anything drawn on the Map is a polygon. The path within the park for example is another polygon and this one is “on top” of the park’s polygon.
Sorry had to tag you in this post. Am still facing one hell of an issue trying to add new places. The upper right side arrow button just jams, even after i have entered all the details.
And i have noticed, my phone net is running like lightning, but on google maps, its showing speeds of 0.9Kbps or max 3kbps…
Still dont have a solution to this one. These things frustrate me sometimes.
There’s a tiny park on Google Maps that I would like to add a picture of on that location’s listing, but the option to add it a photo or review isn’t coming up. Anyone know why that may be?
It could be possible that the location is a polygon. These were added by Google on Google Maps and you are not able to add any reviews or photos to them.
