Unable to access loaded photos in contributions.

Hi all,

I’m still unable to access any photos on my contribution page. They used to be above ’ reviews’

Has anyone got access?

I’m using an android Samsung S21fe Galaxy, if that helps.

I have the same problem on the Web Browser under Windows since earlier today: when I click on “reviews” or “photos”, I do see the markers on the map of the most recent reviews or photos, but the list on the left stays empty. Approximately 6 or 8 hours ago, it still did work fine.

Yes, mine is the same. I can’t see reviews either now. Photos disappeared days ago.

Surely, it can’t just be us.

How do we ask a moderator or register the issue, so someone can sort it? Any ideas?

Your photos are not taken down, so it is likely an issue on your device.

Please, try Clear cache & cookies, if you have not already done so. The link has step-by-step instructions for Android, IOS, and Desktop. Just select the relevant tab at the top.

Also, please log out of your Local Guides account and log back in, and update your Google Maps app if necessary.

@MortenCopenhagen Clear Browsing Data on Chrome doesn’t help. Besides that, I have the problem on Firefox, Chrome and Opera. After clicking reviews, I see the map with the locations of the most recent reviews and at the bottom of the map “loading” (“Wird geladen”) forever.

@Kieron213 and @MortenCopenhagen solved it! At least temporary for me. After switching the Display language from German to English it works again.

For me, it is clearly an issue with the German user interface. After switching back to German, I have the problem again.

@MortenCopenhagen as I mentioned earlier, it did work fine until earlier today with German UI. So, something must have changed today.

P.S. When I wrote “loading” (“Wird geladen”) in my previous comment, I suddenly had the intuition “Why not changing the language?” and it did it! :blush:

No, that’s not worked. I cleared the cache, forced stop, cleared cookies etc . Still no photos or reviews.

I have swapped mobile phones a week ago. I used smart switch ( which was not so smart :roll_eyes: ). It’s been like this since then, I think. Everything else seems ok, other than the above.

@MortenCopenhagen and @MashaPS, I was curious, whether the issue was solved over night, but after switching to German this morning (8 am European time) it was still stuck and works again after switching to English. :blush:

@Kieron213 , possibly an obvious question, but better to give it a try:

Since you swapped your mobile phones, are you sure to be logged into Google Maps with the correct profile? Remember you can be logged into the various Google apps with different user profiles or even none.

It is highly unlikely that any issues get fixed so quickly. But glitzes come and go, and I don’t think we have ruled out that the issue could still be related to your device and the software installed on your end. I have not seen others reporting the same issue.

I just realized that your issue is on the desktop and across different browsers. Correct?

Please let me know if the problem is also when using one of the Mobil Maps apps.

@MortenCopenhagen I was just going to respond:

Yes normally Firefox, but yesterday I also tried Chrome and Opera and minutes ago Edge.

The latter revealed something else: There is a problem with my profile! I haven’t used Edge for quite a while, but was still logged in with an old profile. The old profile did work with German UI, but logging in with my current profile brings the same issue on Edge too.

I’m not sure why. I guess last night’s clearing cache etc sorted it after all. It just needed to sleep on it :laughing: .

Fingers crossed it won’t disappear again.

Works again! It seems to me, I got blocked for 24 hours. No idea why and why only for the German UI, but trying again now was successful! :+1: :blush:
