Hey Local guides! I am back with another episode of great tourism and adventure sites in Uganda. So after my last site post, I seemed to have started with a site that should have come later in the series but I guess my interest about that specific site and my humble beginnings in blogging drove me to that, thus have decided to start with previewing of the general area (Geographical) of the western part of Uganda then I can start zeroing down to the different sites. So, without further ado, Ladies and Gentlemen I present to you the Great Rift Valley.
Believe me itβs even more dazzling in-person. Alright so let me jump to the progress, and like I said in my previous post, I will be as summarized as possible to avoid boring with lots of details.
The Great Rift Valley is is a series of contiguous geographic trenches , approximately 6,000 kilometers (3,700 mi) in total length, that runs from the Lebanon in Asia to Mozambique in Southeast Africa . Today its also known as the East African Rift Valley (Wikipedia). The Ugandan part of this rift valley is called the Albertine Rift, the western branch of the East African Rift. It bares numerous interesting sites and findings that are as a result of nature-related activities and human settlements.
In this geographical area, I will be sharing with interesting facts from different sites including the famous Queen Elizabeth, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Murchison Falls National Parks, Mount Rwenzori (4th Highest in Africa, Wikipedia), Viruga(Mount Mufumbiro), Lake Albert, Edward and George, then also some adventurous sites like hiking, bird siting and cave walks.
This concludes my introduction to the rift valley, see you soon in the next post and see what I will have come up with.
