The purpose of these Badges is to acknowledge the contributions of the Local Guides and to motivate them to keep sharing valuable content. The maximum number of badges available on connect is unknown. So keep contributing and keep wondering you never know when Google might just introduce a new Badge.

before connect 2.0 we had around 50 badges you can find them by this link

Also we had one more badge called Regional Leads badge

The Regional Leads were a group of users on the Map Maker platform that were selected for their knowledge and experience in their region (typically a country). It was through the Regional Leads that many Map Maker edits were reviewed as they had elevated publishing rights, and we also appeared in most of the various support platforms to provide guidance.

With the closure of Map Maker in March 2017, the Regional Lead program was discontinued, but the badge remains for those of us who were part of it on Local Guides Connect.

I think the biggest reason MapMaker is not available in a country is because the progam hasn’t been approved by local regulators. In that case, there’s nothing much we can do as users.

Also regarding Regional Lead application, in the case where it’s available, from what I read from one of the posts in the past is that they’re currently not taking new submissions. They will announce it when they re-open the application…

It was never an easy task to earn badges on connect. In connect 1.0 still, remember my 43 different badges. As of now in new modified and improved connect, there are limited badges. Few more badges you can find in my posts also.

Welcome in Local Guides Connect. In the community we don’t “collect” badges. Badges are simply the acknowledgement of our activity:

We receive badges for:

• Number of post: based on the number of thread you start

• Likes Given / Received: You can give a like to a post or to a photo, if you like it, and of course you can receive likes for beautiful contents. 14 helpful tips for using Connect will help you to write engaging post in the community

• Solutions: When our reply is helpful, it can be flagged as a “Solution” for the post: Tip: How to mark replies as solutions — “Accept as Solution” feature

• Status badges: are showing the status of the Local Guide (e.g. Connect Moderator) or the participation to some official event, like Connect Live.

Regarding the total number of badges, I believe that nobody actually know the real number. In the past the total amount of badge was visible but with the last year improvement, now we can only see the badge that we (or someone else) have

Be active in the community, and the number of your badges will increase for sure. To see the badges of a Local guide, you just need to click on the profile

Well, really not @KishorMali , there are other Local Guides with the same amount of badges. BTW, in my reply I didn’t wanted to mention old badges, like @AmbrishVarshney did, because it doesn’t make any sense for me to talk about what we had “in the past” if we cant’s see, nor have, that kind of badge right now. Actually no ones really know how many badge we can achieve, and this makes everything more interesting.

We know that actually the highest badge for likes is 10.000, while in the past it was 5.000. How many Local Guides have actually more than 50.000 likes? I know at least 3 of them. Will we have a 50.000 likes badge in the future, or an 1.000 solution, or post?

Who knows?
